Bushpackers & Campsite is a busy international backpackers situated just outside Hazyview (3 km) on the Sabie Road in the pristine bush of Sabie Valley. We are approximately 13 km away from Kruger National Park and on the Panorama Route. The lodge is off the road and in the middle of very bushy surrounds. 

 

Bushpackers offers budget accommodation for a reasonable price in a very relaxed atmosphere. People from all over the world use Bushpackers as a base to explore the area with God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes and of course the Blyde River Canyon. Daytrips and multiple daytrips to the Kruger Park are organized and a lot of people use that service. Nowadays the South Africans are also discovering the "backpackers" accommodation possibility. Especially in school holidays and long weekends the lodge is merely occupied with local holidaymakers and they love the atmosphere and meeting and talking with overseas visitors. 

 

The lodge offers 8 twin rooms of which 3 can also be used as family rooms and a mixed dormitory en suite for 12 people. Total amount of beds is 34.  Of the 8 twin rooms, 2 are en suite, the other rooms share the communal toilet and showers. 

 

Meals and snack can be ordered but if guests rather cook themselves they can do that in the basic communal self-catering kitchen, or they can use the "braairock" under the gigantic Fig Tree. 

 

The cosy bar in the inside lounge is an excellent place for the guests to unwind at night and share their stories of the day with the other guests and exchange tips for further travelling. The outside lounge has a full view on the bush with a pool table on the side. Free coffee- and tea facilities are in the outside lounge/ for the hot Lowveld days there is a splash pool to cool down in. The lodge is surrounded by a large green garden with lots of trees and bushes where guests can sit and enjoy the peace and tranquillity. Lodge guests have plenty of parking spaces.

 

The campsite is a basic bush campsite. There are hot showers with a view and flush toilets. There are 2 power points and 1 water point. Campers can either use smaller private sites or else the 2 larger open sites. Groups and overland trucks often use our campsite. Campers are also allowed to use the facilities like the bar and pool table inside the lodge.

 

The lodge has a large kitchen (not for guests) where meals can be prepared. There is a pantry with a freezer and all the necessary kitchen equipment to make and serve meals. Behind the kitchen is an extra room for storage.

 

For management or owners there is a large private flat with a toilet just outside the lodge itself. In this flat is also the office space with computers and files. It's a lovely spot with balcony to live and still be close to the lodge.

 

Bushpackers is established backpackers with a good reputation. Advertised on many tourism websites it gets most of its guests through internet, several overseas and local booking engines, referrals and also repeat guests who keep on coming back. The tourist information offices in town send people to Bushpackers because of the atmosphere and knowing that the customers will be looked after. It is a great place to live for people who like to work in SA tourism.
